Attended the 2024 Illinois Library Association conference in Peoria. I learned about topics relating to banned books, e-resources and readers' advisory, among many more. Here is a compilation of the conference resources that I shared with my Morris Area Public Library staff peers.
While working for Children's Services at the Coal City Public Library, staff were involved in creating activity videos to be posted online on the library Facebook page. Here is an example of one of my videos. The theme was "Deserts", so the activity pertained to books, online resources and craft activities relating to the desert theme. Library staff assembled kits for the patrons that registered for this activity.
During my time as a library media specialist at the junior high, there was a need to present content to the students while we were home during the pandemic. I created Google Slide shows on books with themes such as genres or holidays. A link was also provided on the slides for students to check out Overdrive ebooks through the public library. This was a successful way to present content to students, so I continued to share library book slide shows in Google Classroom, or on the library website when we returned back to school.
